I have always wanted to work with people, I didn't want to do a desk job and I love the outdoors but didn't know what I wanted to do when I left school. Then, in my 7th form year I went tramping with a group of people including two physios. A boy fell and injured himself and I watched with fascination as the physios assessed him and worked out a plan for his evacuation. From that moment on I knew that that is what I wanted to do for my career.
I graduated from AUT in 2003, and have never looked back. I really enjoy trying to help people achieve their goals in life whether it be playing with their children, staying fit an active in older age or elite sport. I have worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings including two years working in Nepal mainly helping rural villagers keep their bodies active so they were able to harvest their crops for their family.
I have a real passion for women’s health; helping women that are having a lot of pain during pregnancy, have concerns about getting back into their desired exercise or activities after pregnancy or are having issues with prolapse or incontinence as well as treating people with ongoing lumbar spine, pelvic or hip conditions. I always desire to reduce someone’s pain but also treat any ongoing faulty biomechanics to prevent ongoing injury. I really enjoy using pilates and OOV exercises to help with ongoing maintenance.
