Part of our physiotherapy treatment for back pain and neck pain is teaching our clients about ergonomics and proper body positioning at home and in the workplace to prevent worsening or recurrence of pain. We also teach proper body positioning for common daily activities such as lifting.
Back Pain therapy
We use models and videos to help our clients be more aware of the parts of their body and how this is affected by certain movements and positions. Our clients finish their treatment plans healthier, pain-free and more aware of their body and its needs.

Who is Dynamic Spines for?
Our Dynamic Spines programme is ideal if you want to improve your core strength or if you’ve got recurrent back pain. Research shows that exercise based programmes that focus on improving core and back muscle strength dramatically reduces the recurrence of back pain.
How Does It Work?
We start with a series of individual sessions with a physiotherapist to assess your needs and to treat any injuries you may have. We then teach you the basics of the Dynamic Spines programme and to teach you how to locate the different muscles used in the programme. You'll receive home exercises to practise before the group sessions as well as each week during the programme.
The Dynamic Spines Programme Is Split Over Two Levels.
The first level, over 8 weeks, teaches you how to activate and then strengthen the key and supporting muscle groups of your core and back. The physiotherapist who leads the programme will help each person based on your diagnosis and ability. The second level of Dynamic Spines, over 8 weeks, progresses you into the dynamic and strength enhancing postural and functional exercises. It focuses on turning those learned skills from Level 1 into habitual movements and improving your strength.
Manipulative therapy is a specialised area of manual therapy which involves high velocity thrust techniques, commonly known as "joint clicking". This is an effective technique used primarily to reduce pain levels in acute injuries along with a great way to improve joint mobility and restore normal body movement. The techniques are applied by post-graduate trained Physiotherapists who are confident the techniques are appropriate for each cliient. This is commonly used for rehabilitation but also for maintaining a healthy lifestyle without posture or stiffness issues.
Occasionally described by therapists or clients as a sudden "click", the effects are generally immediate and not only limited to the musculoskeletal system. Research is showing more and more other aspects of manipulative therapy including beneficial neurophysiological (brain effects) effects and beneficial somatovisceral (organ) effects.
The Oov was invented in Australia by Polestar Pilates instructor, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, and Neuroscientist Daniel Vledeta as an innovative way to enhance rehabilitation and fitness. While originally developed as a better alternative to using a rolled towel to lengthen the spine, the Oov is now used for far more than back rehabilitation.
It can be used to improve movement in joints, to work the inner abdominal muscles, to improve balance and stability, and to build strength and endurance.
It’s ergonomically designed to fit the human body with a three-way curve that follows the natural curve of the spine. Made from a highly durable foam, it doesn’t collapse when used but pushes back so that your muscles activate while using it.
The Oov has been prescribed by physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, exercise physiologists, Pilates instructors, and trainers. Almost everyone can benefit from using the Oov—from grandparents to children, professional athletes to Olympians. You can use the Oov at home to strengthen your core, yet health and fitness professionals can use it to assess movement patterns in their clients and then as a correction or performance training device.
What's an Oov?
The Oov is a training device that works your core without you having to try and activate it. It is ergonomically designed to fit the natural curve of your spine. Made from a highly durable foam, it doesn’t collapse, but pushes back at your body so that your muscles must engage while using it.
How will an Oov course help me?
Whether you live a sedentary or active lifestyle, coming to an Oov Core course will allow you to function better every day. The Oov is deliberately unstable, so your brain must constantly adjust your core muscles to remain balanced on the Oov.
SurfSet is all about getting away from the traditional static workout and challenging your body in new ways. Every exercise on the board is designed to engage your core and stabiliser muscles and shock the system to create real change inside and out. The SurfSet class is designed with built in progressions to continually challenge and push you through plateaus. Once you’ve mastered the basics, we move on to include some high-intensity exercises to mix things up.
How Does Surfset Work?
The SurfSet is a unique piece of equipment designed to shake up your workout. It’s a surfboard on three large inflatable discs, with adjustable straps to help you progress your workout.
SurfSet can enable you to increase your:
- Core strength
- Flexibility
- Stability
