I have always been interested in Healthcare and providing help to people who need it. I graduated from the University of Otago in 2010 from my first Bachelor degree in Anatomy and I decided to pursue a career in Physiotherapy wanting to further my understanding of human movement and musculoskeletal pathology.
Since I've started working, I found my true passion to be manual therapy for relieving pain and other musculoskeletal symptoms. With a postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health and workingfor 3 years in this specialised area, this has helped me understand my patient's needs when returning to normal daily activities. This includes working in different industries following a severe injury. Knowledge of manual therapy, exercise prescription and occupational health has enabled me to tailor treatment plans for each of my patients so they will achieve their goals.
Recently I have gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Manual Therapy to complement my skills in manipulative therapy including spinal manipulation, and currently I am working towards a Masters degree in the same area of interest. This will help me provide the best and most recent evidenc based treatments for my patients. I also believe in a multidisciplinary approach to helping people recover from injuries. This may include referrals to other healthcare professionals including GPs, acupuncturists, podiatrists, musculoskeletal specialists, Orthopaedic surgeons and other professions.
